Readers! We are Writing Another Book… and We Need Your Inspiration!

We love writing about Self- mastery.

We are feeling creative, and we need your help.

This is not because we have spare time (believe us!) but because the world of consulting, communicating, in fact, thriving in healthcare is just too full of messy, wonderful material not to explore.

‘How to Rise’ is our baby. Now, though, she is all grown up and making her place in the world – and we have grown too. We have been working with all sorts of new concepts and subject matter , giving it our usual deep dive of scrutiny and crystalising all the core skills tools so that we can use them ourselves and share them with you!

There is the opportunity for us to write a book for fellow health professionals, or we can look at broader concepts in our usual practical but immersive way – let no suggestion not be made!

Currently, we’re diving into fascinating ideas around:

  • Bullying in the workplace  that elephant is very much in the room — and sometimes making the tea)

  • Communication breakdowns (you said what to the CQC inspector?)

  • Magic words that actually work in consultations (spoiler: “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” is not one of them)

  • Meta-questioning (basically asking a question about your question while questioning why you’re questioning – also magic)

  • Mindful consulting (being fully present when your patient is not)

  • And of course, all our usual evidence-based, practical, and compassion-fueled tools.

But here’s the thing. This isn’t just our book. It’s yours too. We want to know:

What do you want our take on? What makes you roll your eyes or bang your head against your desk? What phrases or questions actually work for you in real life, not just in CPD land?

We are looking for the golden nuggets — those odd little moments in life that shouldn’t work but do.

Maybe it’s that phrase you use that stops a conversation from spiraling.

Maybe it’s how you politely — but firmly — redirect a patient who’s brought 12 problems to a 10-minute consultation.

Maybe it’s your technique for staying zen while Outlook crashes for the third time before 9am.

How do you retain your energy and stay afloat – and what particular issues are liable to cause you to capsize?

Whatever it is, we want to hear it.

Resilience doesn’t live in TED Talks or textbooks. It lives in the real world — in the stuff you do every day to keep your head, your humour, and your humanity.

We know that our readers are plenty - and multitalented!

So please, place a comment below, email us, message us, or send a carrier pigeon. Tell us what you want our Resilient Practice lens focused on next.

Don't forget that there are over 200 articles covering a wide range of subjects around wellbeing and personal growth to explore on our site.

And rest assured — in all our upcoming work, there will be metaphors, practical frameworks, and almost certainly a dodgy diagram drawn on a napkin at 11pm.

With appreciation, curiosity, and far too many post-it notes,

Karen & Chrissie

Hi Karen and Chrissie

Maybe the first question you need to ask yourselves is who do you want to aim your book at? Is it as many people as possible (as with How to Rise) or a more niche market?

Reading your article the strong sense I get is that you already have a good idea as most of what you say relates to an employment background, perhaps with an emphasis on the health service where you do a lot of valuable work. And that would make sense and be a different departure for you both, while supporting all your training with health professionals.

I'm not sure what meta-questioning is, and a lot of what you mentioned didn't really seem…
